Hi!  An avid reader of your postings to “Ama White Owl”!

Have excerpted the following from that which you have written.  Am especially intrigued by the following:

“Board games find their roots in the mystical, religious and spiritual imagination of the human mind. Not only played for pleasure, during leisure time, or for betting and gambling stakes, and as far back as 5,000 BC, board games confer opportunity for receipt of decision-making guidance, communications from other realms, personal insight, divination about future events and in some cases, such as in ancient Mesopotamia and Egypt, determine the life or death fate of the players.”

Can you, perhaps, guide me to a book or other research on this topic?  Especially the contents of this subexcerpt:  “board games confer opportunity for receipt of decision-making guidance, communications from other realms, personal insight, divination about future events and in some cases, such as in ancient Mesopotamia and Egypt, determine the life or death fate of the players.”

Deeply appreciate you kind offerings of thought!                                 Ron Samuel

    FULL QUOTE:

Welcome to my exploration of the mystical roots of ancient board games (and our modern counterparts).

This is a page in process. I will progressively add material in preparation for the release of Realms of The SARA: Fourth World, the strategic soul journey board game I have designed and am fine-tuning via prototype and beta-testing. My hope is to release the board game, in at least its beta form, along with my book on The SARA Wisdom Pathway, in the fall.

About The Tapestry of Games Illustration

My pen and ink drawing below, The Tapestry of Games, is born out of my lifelong fascination with and enjoyment of board games and expresses a “mystical roadmap” of the ancient origins of the human board-game journey.

Board games find their roots in the mystical, religious and spiritual imagination of the human mind. Not only played for pleasure, during leisure time, or for betting and gambling stakes, and as far back as 5,000 BC, board games confer opportunity for receipt of decision-making guidance, communications from other realms, personal insight, divination about future events and in some cases, such as in ancient Mesopotamia and Egypt, determine the life or death fate of the players.

Below I have also posted a photo of the pre-prototype test board for Realms of The SARA: Fourth World. I will release an introduction to the game in the coming weeks.

Additionally, I have posted images of some of the oldest board games and board game artistic renderings yet discovered — Senet, Tabula, and The Royal Game of Ur, predecessors to our modern board games including chess and backgammon.
